My Alpha's Secret Child Ruined Our Wedding Day

Brielles POV

All my life, I had dreamed of this momentthe day I would stand beside Alpha Xavier Raven and finally become the Luna of the Stormvale Pack. He was the man I believed I would grow old with, the one I trusted with every fragile hope I carried in my heart. This day was supposed to mark the beginning of our forever.

The ceremony hall shimmered in soft silver and black. Obsidian roses lined the aisle, their dark petals glistening beneath the crystal lights, while thin ribbons of silver draped elegantly across the pillars. Lavender incense burned at the altar, its gentle smoke drifting upward toward the high vaulted ceiling as pack members chanted blessings to the Moon Goddess. The atmosphere felt sacred, heavy with expectation.

My heart pounded wildly in my chestpart excitement, part nervousness, part disbelief. I had imagined this scene countless times, replayed it in my mind until it felt more like a memory than a dream.

But he never arrived.

At first, I told myself he would be here any second. A few minutes passed. Then more. Soon, those minutes stretched into an hour, and the silence in the hall grew heavier. The murmurs among the pack members became impossible to ignore, their voices hushed but restless. Even the priestess standing before the altar shifted uneasily, trying to maintain calm despite the growing tension.

I stood frozen in place, dressed in white silk, my hands tightening around the bouquet of moon lilies I had carefully chosen that morning. My fingers trembled, and I forced myself to breathe steadily, even as unease curled inside my chest.

Maybe something urgent came up, Beta Carter murmured quietly beside me. His voice carried uncertainty, and he kept glancing toward the large wooden doors at the end of the hall. He left the packhouse early today. I assumed he was already on his way here.

My mouth felt parched. Youre his Beta, Carter you dont know where he is?

He shook his head slowly, his expression tense. No, Luna he hesitated, correcting himself softly, Brielle. He didnt mention anything to me.

The priestess cleared her throat, her voice gentle but cautious. Perhaps we should give him a bit more time

No, I interrupted quietly, though my voice trembled slightly. Its alright.

Slowly, I lowered the bouquet, watching as the pale petals brushed against my shaking hands. I could feel the weight of everyones gazecuriosity, sympathy, confusionall pressing down on me. The once-warm hall suddenly felt too vast, too empty, too cold.

Without another word, I turned and walked down the aisle alone. The sound of my heels striking the marble floor echoed sharply, each step sounding louder than the last, like a cruel reminder that I was leaving without him.

When I stepped outside, the cold wind wrapped around me instantly, sending a chill across my exposed shoulders. My wolf stirred uneasily, her distress rippling through me.

He wouldnt do this. There had to be a reason.

I clung to that fragile belief as I moved forward, trying to silence the growing dread inside me.

Then I noticed the crowd gathered across the street.

Several pack members had stopped in front of a large outdoor screen displaying the local news channel. Curious murmurs filled the air, and someone suddenly gasped, pointing toward the screen.

I followed their gaze.

And my heart stopped.

There he was.

Alpha Xavier.

Still dressed in his usual attireblack shirt, dark jeanswithout even a hint of the wedding suit he was supposed to wear. In his arms, he held a small boy tightly, cradling him with unmistakable care.

The headline flashed boldly across the bottom of the screen:

Alpha Xavier Raven Rescues Child from Rogue Attack Near Kindergarten.

Reporters crowded around him, throwing questions his way, but I barely heard any of it. My attention was fixed on the way he held the boyso protective, so gentle. There was relief in his eyes, warmth in his expression. His entire demeanor radiated tenderness.

For a moment, the thought crossed my mind that he looked like a father.

Then a sharp realization struck me.

Why wasnt he wearing his wedding suit? Where was the urgency? The apology? The realization that he was supposed to be standing beside me before the Moon Goddess at that very moment?

By the time I arrived at the hospital mentioned in the report, I had already taken off my wedding gown. I folded it carefully and left it in the backseat of my car. I couldnt bring myself to walk into that place dressed as a bride whose groom had never shown up.

The hospital corridors carried the faint scent of antiseptic and metal. My heels clicked softly against the polished floor as I searched for him, ignoring the curious glances from the pack nurses. They probably recognized methe bride who had been left alone at the altar.

Alpha Xavier? I asked the nurse stationed at the front desk.

She hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Room 207, Miss Nightwood.

Thank you.

My heartbeat quickened with every step toward the room. I wasnt sure what I expectedperhaps he was injured, perhaps there was a reasonable explanation that would ease the tightness in my chest.

But when I reached the door and peered through the small glass window, the ground seemed to shift beneath me.

He stood beside the hospital bed, holding a woman in his arms.

And I recognized her instantly.

I had seen her face beforein the old photographs hidden in his drawer, in the stories he shared with a wistful smile. The girl he once loved. The one he claimed had disappeared years ago, leaving behind a scar he thought would never heal.

Victoria.

My breath caught as I pressed my palm against the cold glass. My wolf whimpered softly, her sorrow wrapping around me like a heavy shadow.

Xavier gently brushed his fingers through Victorias hair, his voice low and filled with warmth.

I never thought wed have a pup together, he murmured. Im grateful you came back to us. Ill give you everything.

The words tore through me.

I staggered backward, my vision blurring as the hallway spun around me. The boy on the newshe wasnt just some child Xavier had rescued.

He was their son.

My knees nearly gave way, and I grabbed the wall for support, biting down hard on my lip until the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth. Every promise he had made, every vow whispered beneath the moonlight, shattered all at once.

He had told me he had no mate. That Victoria was gone for good. That destiny had chosen me to stand beside him as his Luna.

Yet there he was holding her like she had always been the only one who mattered.

Brielles POV

When I returned to the pack mansion that night, the quiet felt suffocating in a way it never had before. Each step I took echoed through the halls, the sound hollow and mocking, as though the house itself knew what had happened.

Sleep never came.

I lay in bed staring at the empty space beside methe place where Xavier should have been if everything had unfolded the way it was meant to. The pillows remained untouched, the blankets smooth and cold. Outside, rain fell relentlessly, tapping against the windows like quiet sobs. It felt as though even the Moon Goddess mourned alongside me.

By the time dawn broke, I had already given up on sleep. I sat alone in the garden, wrapped in a thin shawl, watching droplets cling to the roses as the early morning air brushed against my skin. My wolf remained restless, uneasy.

I sensed him before I saw him.

His scent drifted toward meoakwood and smoke, sharp yet achingly familiar. My chest tightened despite myself, my heart responding in a way I wished it wouldnt.

Xavier stepped into the garden moments later.

He looked slightly worn, but otherwise unaffected. His clothes were casual, his dark hair tousled as though he hadnt bothered to fix it. When his eyes met mine, I searched desperately for somethingremorse, guilt, anything.

There was nothing.

Brielle, he began, his voice calm. About yesterday

A soft laugh escaped me, though there was no humor in it. You mean about the wedding you didnt attend?

He frowned faintly, dragging a hand through his hair. Im sorry. I didnt intend for things to happen that way. But a childs life was in danger. You have to see my sideweddings can be rescheduled, but when a pups life is at risk, theres no second chance.

A bitter laugh rose in my throat before I could stop it. My heart felt like it was being torn apart. So, in his mind, saving that child erased everything elseleaving me waiting before the Moon Goddess, humiliating me before the entire pack.

Still, I only nodded faintly. Youre right.

His shoulders visibly loosened, as though my response relieved him. I knew youd understand.

Of course he did.

I had always been the understanding one. The calm, patient Luna-to-be who never caused trouble, who swallowed her pain and smiled through it.

His gaze shifted toward the mansion, and before I could question him, a familiar scent reached me.

Honeysuckle and rain.

Victoria Blackwell stepped into view, a small boy holding tightly to her hand. The child glanced around curiously, his wide eyes taking everything in.

Xaviers expression softened immediately when he saw them. A gentle smile touched his lipsone that once belonged only to me.

Brielle, he said lightly, this is Victoria. You may have heard me mention her before. We grew up together.

Childhood friend.

The words twisted painfully in my stomach.

Victoria offered me a polite smile. I apologize for arriving at such an awkward time, Brielle.

Xavier continued casually, Victoria and her pup will be staying here in the mansion for the time being. After the rogue attack, its safer for them here.

My eyes drifted to the boyLiam.

Dark hair. Familiar eyes. The resemblance was undeniable. I didnt need the Moon Goddess to confirm what my heart already knew.

I forced my lips into a small smile. Of course, Alpha. Whatever you think is best.

Inside, something fractured quietly.

The following morning, I woke to unfamiliar noisesoft laughter, footsteps, the sound of furniture scraping across the floor.

Omega May? I called sleepily, rubbing my eyes. Whats happening?

But when I opened my bedroom door, I froze.

Victoria stood inside my room, surrounded by omega maids carrying boxes, blankets, and fresh linens. She turned toward me with a faint, knowing smile, her fingers trailing across my vanity as though she already owned it.

Oh, Brielle, youre awake, she greeted sweetly. I hope you dont mind. Im just getting settled.

In my room? I asked, my voice sharpening as the last traces of sleep vanished.

Her smile remained perfectly composed. Well, technically, this used to be my room years ago. Before I left. It holds sentimental value for me.

This is my room now, I replied, folding my arms. Whatever it used to be doesnt matter.

Victoria sighed softly, her eyes glistening as though tears threatened to fall. Liam really wants to stay here with me. He said the scent feels comforting, familiar somehow. I didnt want to cause trouble.

My jaw tightened. Then perhaps you should ask Xavier to prepare another room. There are more than enough available.

Before I could continue, the door swung open abruptly.

Xavier entered, his Alpha aura filling the space instantlyheavy, commanding. His eyes moved from Victorias teary expression to me, his features hardening almost immediately.

Whats happening here? he demanded.

Victoria sniffed softly. I was just asking Brielle if Liam and I could stay in this room, but she

She what? Xavier cut in sharply, turning toward me.

I told her this room belongs to me, I answered firmly. Because it does.

He exhaled, rubbing his face with clear irritation. Brielle, cant you just give it to her? Why are you being so selfish?

The word struck me like a slap.

Selfish? I repeated, disbelief flooding through me. You didnt show up to our wedding, and now you expect me to give up the only place thats mine? What else do you want me to sacrifice, Alpha?

For a moment, I hoped he might soften. That the man I once loved would show even a hint of regret.

Instead, his expression remained cold. Youre still hung up on that? I told you, I saved a child. Are you really saying the wedding mattered more than a pups life?

My voice trembled. Its not just about the wedding, Xavier. You made promises to me.

He dismissed my words entirely. Enough. Move your things out. Stay in one of the guest rooms downstairs.

Victoria gently placed her hand on his arm, and he allowed it without hesitation. The sight made my stomach churn. He used to dislike being touched in front of othersunless it was me.

Thank you, Alpha, she murmured softly, glancing at me over her shoulder with quiet triumph.

Then they walked out together, her hand still resting on his arm.

The door closed behind them, and the silence that followed pressed heavily against my chest.

I remained standing there, staring at the room that was no longer mine. My scent still lingered in the air, clung to the sheets, yet it already felt unfamiliar. The omega maids shifted awkwardly, unsure how to react.

Its alright, I whispered. Just leave everything. Ill pack myself.

Once they left, I sank onto the edge of the bed, tears finally slipping free.

This wasnt the Xavier I had fallen in love with two years ago. Back then, he had been gentle yet strong. He used to hold my hands and tell me I was the only she-wolf who brought him peace. He promised that once we were married, he would make me the happiest Luna alive.

Now, he felt like a stranger.

The Alpha who once chased away my fears had become the one haunting them.

I packed slowlyclothes, books, small belongings. Then I reached the necklace he had given me during a full-moon ceremony. I paused, holding it in my palm.

Do you remember this, Xavier? I whispered quietly. You told me this stone would keep me safe as long as you were alive.

The gem no longer sparkled the way it once had.

When I finished, the sky outside had already darkened into evening. I carried my boxes toward the guest room, feeling like an outsider in my own home. As I walked down the corridor, Liams laughter echoed faintly from somewhere ahead, followed by Victorias soft, affectionate voice.

And Xaviers voice answered them.

Brielles POV

My birthday was only a few days away, and despite everything that had fallen apart between Xavier and me, the mansion was already alive with activity before the sun had fully risen. Omegas hurried through the corridors carrying boxes, ribbons, and folded banners.

For one brief, foolish second, hope flickered inside me.

Maybe just maybe it was for me.

Xavier had always gone all out for my birthdays. He used to say the Moon Goddess must have chosen that day herself, blessing his life by bringing me into it. Two years ago, he had transformed the garden into a sea of glowing lanterns, tiny lights floating in the dark like fireflies. That night, he gave me a moonstone necklace, telling me the stone reflected the quiet strength he saw in me. Last year, he organized a grand celebration that stretched until dawn, filled with music, laughter, and his arm wrapped around my shoulders the entire time.

So when I saw colorful banners being unpacked, boxes labeled decorations, and caught the warm, sweet scent of honey cake drifting from the kitchen, a small spark ignited in my chest.

Maybe he was trying to fix things.

Maybe he hadnt completely forgotten the woman he left standing alone at the altar.

But when the final decoration plans arrived that afternoon, that fragile hope shattered before it even had a chance to grow.

I unrolled the blueprint across the long oak table in the hall, my fingers pausing mid-motion as I stared down at it. This wasnt anything like the elegant, romantic celebrations Xavier used to plan. There were no silver accents, no moonlight themes, no subtle elegance.

Instead, bright balloons filled the design. Cartoon wolves decorated the corners. Little paw prints scattered across the layout.

I blinked slowly, convinced there had been some mistake.

This doesnt look right, I murmured quietly to the omega who handed me the design.

She shifted uncomfortably. Alpha Xavier confirmed these are the final arrangements, Lady Brielle.

I thanked her softly, though my chest tightened, then headed straight for Xaviers office. With each step, dread crept deeper into my stomach. His door stood slightly open, and I could hear his voice before I even knockedcalm, composed, confident. The voice of an Alpha who believed everything was under control.

Come in, he called, not even glancing up as I entered.

Alpha, I greeted gently. I just saw the decoration designs.

He lifted his head briefly. Oh? Good. What do you think?

I think theyre I hesitated, searching for the right word. A bit childish.

Exactly, he replied immediately, his pen continuing to move across the documents on his desk. Its meant for children. Its Liams birthday celebration, after all.

My breath caught in my throat.

Liams birthday?

He looked up again, puzzled by my reaction. Yes. Its this Saturday. You should attend too. Itll show the pack that things between us are still harmonious.

Saturday.

My pulse began to race. Alpha, I said carefully, Saturday is also my birthday.

His eyebrows knit together as he tried to recall. Then, a brief flicker of realization crossed his face before it disappeared beneath indifference.

Oh, he said casually. Right.

Right.

That was it.

Silence settled heavily between us. I waitedhoping hed say something more, offer an apology, at least acknowledge how much that hurt. But he simply lowered his gaze and resumed signing papers, as though my birthday were a minor detail not worth further thought.

There was a time when he counted down the days with me.

Now, he barely remembered.

I stood there, humiliation burning beneath my skin. Then, as if that wasnt enough, he spoke again.

By the way, your parents pack hasnt sent their monthly support yet. Have you contacted them?

My jaw tightened. Support? I echoed.

He nodded. Yes. The Moonveil Pack usually sends contributions to help strengthen our resources. I was wondering if theres been a delay. Maybe you could remind them.

A hollow laugh nearly escaped me. My chest tightened painfully. Thats what concerns you? My familys contribution?

He looked at me calmly. Its not about the money. Its about maintaining alliances.

I didnt want to hear another word.

I turned and walked out before my anger spilled over into something I couldnt take back.

By the time I reached the hallway, my hands were shaking. The image of his calm, detached expression lingered in my mind.

So this was what I had become to him.

Not his future Luna.

Not his mate.

Just a link to a powerful, wealthy pack. A convenient alliance.

That night, moonlight filtered gently into my room, casting soft shadows along the walls. I sat quietly at the edge of my bed, watching the shifting shapes while my wolf stirred restlessly inside me.

I didnt plan what I did next.

I simply followed the ache in my chest, the faint bond that still pulled me toward him, even when it hurt.

Barefoot and silent, I walked down the hallway toward his quarters.

The scent reached me first.

Vanilla and rosewater.

Not mine.

Not the earthy scent that usually surrounded him.

Then I heard voices.

Soft, breathy sounds. A womans moan. And then

His voice.

Victoria youre incredible. So much better than Brielle. She just lies there like a lifeless log.

The words cut through me like silver.

I froze outside the door, my breath trapped in my throat. My hands went cold, my heart skipping before shattering all at once.

I didnt move.

I didnt even cry at first.

I just stood there, numb, listening to the sounds of betrayal spilling through the door.

Inside me, my wolf let out a broken howlrage, heartbreak, disbelief tangled together. I pressed my hand over my mouth, forcing back the sob threatening to escape, then turned and ran down the hallway, my bare feet silent against the marble floor.

By the time I reached my room, tears blurred my vision. My body trembled as I grabbed my phone, my fingers shaking so badly I nearly dropped it.

I dialed my brother.

He answered after two rings, his voice warm and steady. Brielle? Its late. Is everything alright?

Hearing him broke whatever control I had left.

Benedict My voice cracked. He he betrayed me.

What? His tone sharpened immediately. Who?

Alpha Xavier, I whispered, choking on my tears. He he didnt show up at our wedding because he was saving his child. With another woman. Victoriahis childhood sweetheart. She has his son. Hes been lying to me the entire time.

Silence followed.

A dangerous silence filled with restrained fury.

He did what? Benedicts voice dropped, his Alpha authority bleeding through. I could almost feel his power surge even through the phone. Ill gather our warriors right now. He wont get away with this, Sam.

No! I said quickly. Please dont.

He hesitated. Brielle

I dont want war, I said firmly, though my voice trembled. Just give me until my birthday. After that Ill leave Stormvale. For good.

Brielle His voice softened, laced with pain. You dont deserve any of this. You shouldve told me sooner.

I know. My voice broke again. I kept hoping hed change that maybe the man I loved was still there.

Then let him live with his choices, Benedict said quietly. And when you leave, make sure he understands exactly what he lost.

Thank you, Ben, I whispered. I just need a few more days. Ill be alright.

After we ended the call, I sat there for a long time, holding the phone close to my chest.

Outside, the full moon glowed pale and distant, silently watching everything unfold.

That night, I finally accepted the truth I had been avoiding.

Alpha Xavier Raven of the Stormvale Pack was no longer mine.

Maybe he never truly had been.

And on my birthdaythe day he forgotI would reclaim what he had taken from me.

My freedom.

My pride.

And the shattered pieces of my heart.

Brielles POV

The dining hall carried the warm scent of roasted meat and freshly baked bread, but even that comforting aroma couldnt soften the tension thickening the air. I sat quietly across from Alpha Xavier, my appetite long gone, while Victoria Blackwell spoon-fed her son like she belonged at the head of the table. Her laughter echoed brightly through the hall, light but edged with something mocking. When our eyes met, she didnt even pretend to look away.

Instead, she tilted her head deliberately, exposing the smooth curve of her neck. My stomach twisted. Dark hickeys bloomed across her skinfresh, unmistakable. That space should have held my mates mark someday, but instead, it bore evidence of her nights with him. She wasnt even trying to hide them. Each bruise felt like a deliberate insult, a silent reminder of what she had taken.

Xavier didnt appear bothered in the slightest.

He focused entirely on Liam, carefully slicing the boys meat into smaller pieces. When Liam thanked him, Xavier smiled gently, his expression soft in a way I hadnt seen directed at me in weeks. I watched that quiet moment, the tenderness of a father, the scene I once imagined sharing with him when we had our own pup.

Foolish.

Victorias voice pulled me from my thoughts. Brielle, would you mind passing the juice? Its closer to you. Her tone was sugary sweet, but the innocence in it felt fake.

I glanced at the pitcher, then back at her. Youre perfectly capable of reaching it yourself. My words came out sharper than I intended, but I didnt bother softening them.

The table fell silent.

Xavier placed his fork down with a sharp clang. Brielle. His voice carried a warning. Is it really so hard to do a simple favor without creating an issue?

Under the table, I clenched my fists, my wolf stirring restlessly inside mehurt, humiliated, ready to snap. But I swallowed the surge of emotion, picked up the pitcher, and poured juice into her glass.

Victoria smiled, smug satisfaction gleaming in her eyes.

Thank you, she murmured sweetly, her tone as smooth and poisonous as silk.

For a moment, I imagined throwing the glass straight at her face.

Xavier leaned back in his chair, studying me, his irritation shifting into something colder. Brielle, has Moonveil Pack transferred the funds yet? Well need extra budget for Liams birthday.

For Liam.

Not for me. Not even though the money came from my family.

My jaw tightened. Youre asking about money again?

Its for the pack, he replied calmly. You know Stormvale doesnt have the same wealth as Moonveil. If you could ask your parents

A bitter laugh escaped me, cutting him off. No, Alpha. There wont be any more funds. Ive already told my parents to stop sending money to Stormvale. You have more than enough businesses and resources to support your own pack.

The entire table fell silent.

Xaviers expression darkened immediately. What did you just say? His voice dropped, low and dangerous.

You heard me, I answered, holding his gaze. No more money.

His palm slammed against the wooden table the next second, the loud crack echoing across the hall. Liam flinched, and Victoria gasped softlythough I noticed the faint curl of satisfaction at the corner of her lips.

Do you realize what youve done? Xavier growled. Youre cutting off the very support that keeps this pack running. That supports you.

I rose slowly from my seat, forcing calm into my voice. Maybe its time you stopped relying on my parents generosity and started standing on your own.

His eyes burned with anger. He shoved his chair back so abruptly it scraped loudly against the floor. Youre unbelievable, he snapped before storming out of the dining hall.

Victoria quickly stood, lifting Liam into her arms as she followed him, as though worried I might do something to them.

But I remained where I was, trembling.

My nails dug into my palms as I tried to steady myself. Inside, my wolf whimpered softly, confused and wounded. How had things fallen apart so badly? How had the man who once promised to cherish me above all else become someone who saw me as nothing more than a financial bridge?

Hours later, the mansion buzzed with activity again.

Visitors had arrivedmostly other Alphas. Their deep laughter echoed from Xaviers office, loud and carefree. I walked quietly through the corridor toward my guest room, hoping to avoid them. But as I neared the office, their conversation drifted out, sharp and unmistakable.

I heard the wedding with Brielle didnt happen, one Alpha remarked with a chuckle.

Didnt happen? another laughed loudly. Xavier never planned on showing up in the first place.

Their laughter grew louder.

My breath caught.

Then Xaviers voice joined them, relaxed and almost amused. Still, all the wedding preparations paid off. Moonveil transferred hundreds of thousands before the event. Easy money.

I froze where I stood.

So you never intended to marry her? another Alpha asked.

Why would I? Xavier replied casually, arrogance thick in his tone. Shes useful leverage. Her pack is wealthy, and I needed funding for Stormvales expansion.

More laughter erupted.

My heart shattered.

Through the slight gap in the partially open door, I caught sight of the room. Victoria sat comfortably on Xaviers lap, her hands sliding across his chest as she pressed kisses along his collarbone. None of the other Alphas seemed surprised.

I bit my lip until I tasted blood.

Victorias voice purred softly. So what happens now, darling? I heard Brielle told her parents to stop sending money.

Xavier smirked. If she still wants to eat and live comfortably here, shell change her mind soon enough. Im not spending a single coin to support her stay in my pack.

Cruel laughter followed.

Something inside me broke.

I pressed my trembling hand against my chest as tears slipped down my cheeks. My wolf howled in anguishhurt, humiliation, rage all tangled together. Every word I heard felt like another blade carving into me. The love I had clung to, the loyalty I had protected despite everything, suddenly felt painfully foolish.

I staggered away from the door, each step heavier than the last. My vision blurred, my throat tightening painfully. The truth had finally revealed itself.

All this time, I was never his Luna.

I was a pawn.

A source of wealth.

A convenient alliance.

When I reached my room, I collapsed onto the bed, sobs finally breaking free. My mind replayed every memory we sharedhis promises, the warmth in his eyes, the laughter when we talked about our future.

None of it had ever been real.

Brielles POV

The morning of my birthday arrived wrapped in sunshine that felt almost mocking. The Stormvale mansion glittered with decorationsgold and blue banners draped from balconies, ribbons tied along railings, and servants rushing back and forth carrying cakes, wrapped gifts, and trays of food. Laughter filled the corridors, loud and lively.

But none of it belonged to me.

Not anymore.

Today had also been declared Liams birthdayor rather, Alpha Xavier had decided it would be. My special day had been swallowed whole by the childs celebration, leaving me reduced to nothing more than another face in the crowd on what used to be mine.

When I stepped into the grand hall, conversations faltered. Heads turned. I felt the weight of their stares, heavy and uncomfortable. Some looked at me with sympathy, others with curiosity, and a few with open judgment. Whispers rippled through the room like quiet waves.

Everyone knew.

The rejected bride.

The Luna-to-be who was never claimed.

The daughter of the wealthy Moonveil Pack who had been used, then cast aside when she was no longer useful.

Even so, I straightened my shoulders and walked forward with quiet dignity. My silver gown shimmered softly beneath the chandeliers, catching the light with every step. I carried myself with the pride of my lineage, refusing to let them see the cracks forming beneath my calm expression.

At the center of the hall stood Alpha Xavier, commanding attention as always. His arm rested comfortably around Victorias waist. She wore a crimson dress that hugged her figure, her smile bright and triumphant. She looked like she owned everything around her.

And perhaps she didat least, she owned what used to be mine.

I moved toward the refreshment table, pretending not to notice the lingering gazes. My fingers wrapped around a wine glass, and I poured myself a drink just to keep my hands from shaking. The liquid sloshed slightly as I lifted it.

Brielle, a gentle, honey-sweet voice called behind me.

I turned slowly.

Victoria Blackwell approached, her smile polished but hollow. The scent of jasmine clung to her, thick and overwhelming, making my stomach twist.

Happy birthday, she said brightly. Then she tilted her head, her lips curling faintly. Or maybe I should say happy Liams day instead? She let out a soft laugh that scraped against my nerves.

I said nothing. I simply watched her, waiting for whatever cruelty she had prepared.

She leaned closer, her breath brushing against my ear. I heard you cant have children anymore, she murmured softly, her voice coated with false concern.

My heart stumbled.

Didnt Xavier tell you? she continued, her tone dropping into something colder. He admitted it to me himself. He poisoned you. He didnt want you carrying his pup, Brielle. He even said hed rather never have children at all than have one with you.

For a moment, everything around me faded.

I couldnt move. I couldnt breathe. Her words echoed in my mind, shattering something deep inside me. Months earlier, when the pack doctor delivered the devastating news that I couldnt conceive, I had broken down completely. Xavier had held me that night, whispering comforting words, telling me he didnt care about childrenthat I alone was enough.

So it had been him.

He had taken that dream from me himself.

Victoria leaned back slightly, her smile sharpening. He doesnt love you, Brielle. What he loves is your familys wealth. Youre nothing more than a convenient source of money a walking bank account.

Something inside me finally snapped.

Before I could stop myself, my hand moved.

Slap!

The sharp sound rang through the hall. Victoria stumbled backward, her hand flying to her cheek, shock flashing across her face. Conversations halted as everyone turned toward us.

Whats happening here? Xaviers voice thundered as he pushed through the crowd.

He went straight to Victoria, wrapping an arm protectively around her shoulders. Instantly, tears welled in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks.

She slapped me, Xavier! she cried, her voice trembling. I was just trying to speak with her peacefully!

I shook my head, stepping back. Shes lying! Tell them what you told me!

But Xavier didnt even spare me a glance. His eyes burned with anger. Brielle, he said tightly, have you completely lost control of yourself?

She provoked me! I protested desperately. Ask her what she said

Enough! His Alpha voice cracked across the hall, heavy with authority. My wolf whimpered instantly, forced into submission by his dominance.

Before I could react, two guards approached and grabbed my arms roughly.

Xavier, what are you doing? I cried, panic rising in my chest.

He faced the crowd, his expression calm but cold. For striking a guest and causing a scene during a celebration, he announced, Brielle will kneel and reflect on her actions.

Reflect? Victoria whispered, wiping fake tears. Please, Xavier dont punish her too harshly. I forgive her.

He shot me a hard look. Kneel on salt until the celebration ends. Perhaps youll finally learn humility.

My breath caught. Noplease

But the guards forced me down.

My knees hit the rough grains of salt scattered across the marble floor. Pain shot through my legs instantly, sharp and burning, but the humiliation hurt far more.

Dozens of people watched as I knelt there. Some looked away awkwardly, others stared openly. I heard hushed murmurs, and somewhere, a phone camera clicked. Tears slid down my cheeks, falling onto the salt that soon turned red as my skin scraped open.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to shift and tear everything apart. But my wolf remained weak, crushed beneath Xaviers Alpha aura.

Then

May I have everyones attention! the announcers voice rang out. Its time for a special message from Miss Victoria Blackwell on behalf of her son, Liam!

All eyes shifted to the stage. Victoria walked up gracefully, dabbing at her fake tears. I remained kneeling, trembling, blood slowly staining the salt beneath me.

She smiled into the microphone. Thank you all for being here, she began warmly. I prepared a small presentation for my son.

The lights dimmed.

The screen flickered on.

But instead of cheerful birthday images, a sound echoed through the speakers.

Ah Xavier dont stop

Gasps rippled through the hall. My heart lurched.

The moans were unmistakablehers and hisplaying loudly for everyone to hear.

Then Xaviers voice followed, clear and undeniable. Ill marry you soon, Victoria. I promise. You and our son, Liam, deserve everything. Brielle is only a stepping stone.

Shock exploded through the room. Whispers erupted, wolves turning to stare at me, horror and pity mixing in their expressions.

Victoria covered her mouth, feigning panic. Oh no I dont know how that played Im so sorry

But when her eyes met mine, she smirked.

That tiny curl of satisfaction revealed everything. It wasnt an accident. She planned this. She wanted to humiliate me completely.

I struggled to breathe. My vision spun, voices blending into meaningless noise.

Suddenly, a strong hand gripped my arm.

Startled, I looked up.

A tall man stood beside me, cloaked and unfamiliar. His scent was powerful, different, foreign.

Who I began.

Dont speak, he murmured quietly. His tone was calm but firm. Your brother sent me. Im here to take you away.

Before I could react, he pulled me upright. The guards moved to stop him, but he moved faster, knocking them aside effortlessly. Chaos erupted as the crowd screamed.

Xaviers Alpha voice roared, shaking the hall. Brielle!

I glanced back onceonly once.

He was pushing through the crowd, fury blazing in his eyes, his aura dark and overwhelming. But I didnt stop.

The stranger wrapped an arm around my waist, and we rushed through the corridors, past open doors, and out into the cold night air. The chill bit into my skin, but I barely felt it.

My body trembled, my heart shattering piece by piece. I leaned against him, too numb to speak.

Behind us, Xaviers furious voice echoed faintly into the night, filled with anger and desperation.

But I didnt turn around again.

I was finished with him.

Finished with Stormvale.

Finished with every lie.

Brielles POV

The world outside the car windows blurred into streaks of silver and black as the tires raced down the dark road. The scent of burning rubber and pine filled the air. I sat in silence beside the stranger who had pulled me away from the ruins of my life.

Behind us, I could still hear faint echoes of pursuit, the growl of engines, the howl of wolves trying to catch up.

Theyre following us, I whispered, glancing at the rear window.

They wont for long, the stranger said flatly. His tone was calm, almost emotionless.

The driver swerved sharply, taking a narrow road that cut through the forest. I held onto the seat, my heart hammering. I didnt know who this man was, but I could sense power radiating from him. His presence was cold yet strangely reassuring.

When the sound of the chasing cars finally faded, I let out a breath I didnt know I was holding. My knees trembled, my palms were sweaty.

Who are you? I asked, my voice shaking slightly.

He didnt look at me. His eyes were fixed on the road ahead. A friend of your brother, he said simply. He asked me to bring you home.

Home I repeated the word quietly, as if Id forgotten what it meant.

The word tasted unfamiliar on my tongue. Id called Stormvale Pack my home for years, but it was nothing more than a gilded cage. And now, here I was, leaving everything behind, my heart shattered and my pride crushed.

Can I know your name? I asked again, though I didnt expect much.

He glanced at me briefly, his expression unreadable. Names dont matter right now, he said. Rest. Youve had enough pain for one night.

His voice wasnt harsh, it was deep and steady, almost commanding. I nodded weakly. My body was exhausted from the humiliation, from kneeling on salt, from all the tears that refused to stop falling.

I leaned against the seat and let my eyes close. The gentle hum of the engine became a lullaby, pulling me into a deep, dreamless sleep.

When I woke up, morning light was spilling through the car windows. The faint scent of fresh blossoms filled the air. My eyes widened when I saw the golden gates ahead, carved with symbols I knew by heart.

Moonveil Pack. My home.

The guards recognized the family crest on the car and immediately opened the gates. I felt a wave of emotion rush over me, relief, sorrow, fear. I was home, but not the same person who had left.

When the car stopped, I stepped out slowly. The moment my feet touched the ground, I was surrounded by familiar faces. Warriors, omegas, pack members, people Id known since I was a child.

Lady Brielle! one of them cried.

And then, they all came rushing forward.

Tears filled my eyes as they hugged me, welcomed me back, and whispered blessings.

The stranger stepped aside quietly, his gaze scanning the perimeter as if guarding me even now.

Before I could thank him, I saw my brother running from the pack mansion. Alpha Benedict, tall, broad-shouldered, his aura strong and fierce. His usually calm eyes were burning with fury when they landed on me.

Brielle, he breathed, pulling me into his arms. Youre home. Youre safe now.

I broke down then, sobbing into his chest. The smell of his familiar pine scent made me feel like a child again.

Im sorry, I choked out between tears. I shouldve listened to you. You told me not to trust him.

Dont, he said, his voice low and trembling. Dont ever apologize for loving someone who didnt deserve you.

Behind him, my parents appeared.

Alpha Charles, my father, still tall and dignified despite the gray streaks in his hair. His eyes were sharp, assessing me from head to toe as if ensuring I was whole. And beside him was my mother, Luna Mira, her beauty as gentle as ever, her hands trembling as she reached for me.

My little girl she whispered, cupping my face. Youre home now.

I couldnt speak. I just cried again as she held me tightly.

That night, the pack held a small feast in my honor. Tables were lined with food, candles flickered, and the wolves of Moonveil celebrated my return with howls that echoed through the hills. I smiled politely, but inside I felt hollow.

Every laugh, every toast reminded me of what I had lost, of what had been stolen from me.

When the feast ended, I was called into my fathers office. The room smelled of oakwood and paper, exactly how I remembered it. My father sat behind his desk, my brother standing beside him, arms crossed. My mother sat near the fireplace, her face drawn with worry.

Sit, Brielle, Father said. His tone was calm, but I could hear the storm behind it.

I obeyed quietly.

Tell us everything, he said.

So I did.

From the moment Alpha Xavier left me at the altar, to the day I found him holding another woman, the way Victoria had mocked me, the humiliations I endured, and the betrayal.

By the time I finished, silence filled the room. My mother was crying silently. My brothers fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

And my fathers eyes, cold and sharp, were filled with barely contained rage.

That filthy wolf, he muttered. He dares humiliate a daughter of Moonveil?

Benedicts voice was low and trembling with fury. Father, give me the order. Ill burn his pack to the ground.

No, I said quickly. No, Ben. Please. I dont want war.

He turned to me, eyes wild. After what he did to you? After he made you kneel in front of everyone?

Tears welled in my eyes again. I dont want innocent wolves to get hurt because of me.

My mother stood and went to me, brushing my hair gently. Youre too kind, Brielle. But sometimes peace must be earned with strength.

My fathers voice cut through the tension. There will be no weakness in this house. He leaned forward, his expression hard. That man ruined your name. The other packs are already whispering. If we dont act, our daughter will become a laughingstock.

I looked down. I knew he was right. In our world, reputation was everything. An Alphas daughter who was rejected and betrayed, it was scandalous.

What will you do? I asked quietly.

My father exchanged a glance with Benedict. Then he said, We will make Alpha Xavier pay for what hes done. But thats not whats more important now.

He stood, his aura filling the room. You will be married again, Brielle.

I froze. What?

Its the only way to protect your name, he said firmly. If you marry into a stronger pack, the scandal will die. The other packs will stop whispering.

But I dont want to marry again, I whispered. Not like this. Not so soon.

You dont have a choice. This is for you, my daughter, he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Benedict spoke then, still seething but quieter now. Who are you thinking, Father?

My father looked at him, his expression turning thoughtful. Then slowly, he said, Propose a marriage to Alpha Cassius of Eclipse Pack. Hes powerful, respected, and loyal to our family. I want him to marry my daughter.

My breath caught. My heart began to pound as the reality sank in.

Benedicts jaw tightened, but he nodded reluctantly. Ill send a proposal tomorrow.

My fathers gaze settled on me. This time, Brielle, well make sure you end up with a real Alpha, one who knows your worth.
