Betrayed While Pregnant, Walking Away From a Loveless Marriage

For the fifth year, Kairo Harrison came back to the family, and I got pregnant again.

After receiving the prenatal checkup results, I went back to the old villa to celebrate, but the present Kairo gave me was a collection of intimate photos showing him cheating with a nurse, along with a recording.

I clicked it open, trembling, and Kairo's confused and passionate voice came out.

[Kairo, do you still love me?]

Without hesitation, he answered.

[You're the one I love the most, of course. You know that all these years, whenever I see the scar on her belly, I feel disgusted.]

At that moment, my heart felt completely dead.

Five years earlier, when I was seven months pregnant, Kairo had already fallen in love with a nurse at first sight while accompanying me to a prenatal checkup.

They were like dry fire and strong fire, and didn't care who was watching.

I asked for a divorce. When my heart felt dead inside, and I was about to leave, the nurse brought kidnappers into the villa.

To protect herself, she shoved me forward to take the knife.

I blocked the knife that time, and because of that, I lost the child and nearly became paralyzed.

Out of guilt, Kairo came back to the family.

Since then, the nurse had gone missing with no trace left behind.

Unexpectedly, at eight months into my pregnancy, they once again showed up on the trending searches.

Ten minutes earlier, he had been with me for a prenatal exam; ten minutes later, he was already in bed with the nurse.

Everyone was waiting for my response, believing I'd behave like before and make a life-and-death scene.

I simply said in a calm tone, "Push the trending topic even further."

This time, I wouldn't hold back my anger anymore.

I would take the baby in my womb and leave Kairo completely!

Cordelia Harrison froze in place, rushing to explain, "Azalea Gibson, you were wronged. I'll call that jerk now and make him come back!"

I understood she meant to quietly cover this situation.

I relaxed my face and answered simply, "No need."

At that moment, the voices nearby reached my ears.

"Isn't this the woman President Harrison cheated with five years ago? Back then, it was a big scene, and everyone could see they were serious. I heard President Harrison and Mrs. Harrison even got a divorce!"

"I heard that during that time, the nurse even led kidnappers to the Harrison family. In the end, Mrs. Harrison, who was seven months pregnant, was forced to take the knife, fell down the stairs, and almost ended up paralyzed! But President Harrison still showed concern for that nurse."

"At that time in the hospital, no matter how Mrs. Harrison called him, even when President Harrison's mother tried to reach him, he did not respond. He insisted on staying beside that nurse, and in the end, Mrs. Harrison's child was completely lost."

I paid no attention and went on dealing with the divorce papers.

They were right. At that time, I was forced forward to take the knife, yet Kairo still remained beside Madeline.

If the child had not been gone, he would not have felt regret or returned to the family.

Five years earlier, due to leftover feelings and family pressure, I chose to forgive Kairo.

Five years later, I would not make that same mistake again.

With this in mind, I pulled out my phone and sent a text to the lawyer.

[I need a divorce. Please assist me in preparing a divorce agreement.]

The lawyer felt very surprised.

Everyone knew I deeply loved Kairo, even accepting his unfaithfulness.

How could I ever choose divorce?

Yet at this time, I truly suggested it.

I forwarded the blood-covered pictures from five years earlier, the abortion document, and the calls that were ended again and again.

Together with the bed images Madeline once sent me of her with Kairo, plus today's viral intimate photos and recording, I sent them all to the lawyer.

The lawyer did not speak further, only reminding me that Kairo had to sign the divorce agreement.

After I said yes, I printed the divorce agreement and turned back.

Kairo was standing just behind me.

He looked at my hand and frowned.

"What are you holding there? A divorce agreement? You want to divorce me?"

I answered quietly, "Nothing, a divorce agreement passed to me by Miss Wagner."

"Her husband cheated five years before, went on his knees to apologize and returned home, then cheated again. Tell me, should Miss Wagner divorce?"

My eyes stayed on Kairo.

He immediately looked away from me.

Kairo still meant to say something, but his phone suddenly showed the trending photo.

When he saw the intimate image of him and Madeline, guilt appeared on Kairo's face.

He stared at my very swollen belly and spoke with guilt.

"What's appearing in the trending searches isn't true."

"I only ran into Madeline at the hospital. She hasn't been well over the years. We only spoke for a short while......"

I nodded lightly.

Seeing the pale lipstick mark on his collar, my thoughts went back to the past.

Ever since Kairo fell for Madeline at first sight, she had used these ways again and again.

Kairo and I argued over and over, and signed divorce papers time after time.

But each time, the family stopped it.

In the end, I truly felt worn out, and secretly signed the divorce papers and got ready to leave with my luggage.

Yet without warning, Madeline then led the kidnappers to the villa.

Her affair with Kairo had already caused a large commotion. Everyone knew Kairo ignored me, who was eight months pregnant, and was deeply involved with Madeline.

The Harrison family's enemies naturally aimed at her.

To keep herself safe, she shoved me, who was eight months pregnant, to take the knife.

The pointed knife went through my body, and she shook as she said, "Anyway, Kairo doesn't care about you. If you die, nobody will feel upset; he surely won't blame me."

Sadly, the kidnappers did not spare her either.

At that urgent moment, Kairo rushed into the villa and saved Madeline.

He didn't even glance at me lying in a pool of blood; he only cared about the small wound on Madeline's hand that didn't even bleed.

I cried out. "Kairo, help me! I still carry your child in my belly!"

But Kairo held Madeline and, without turning, said, "Azalea, Madeline is hurt. I know your health is strong; you can endure it. I'll take her to the hospital first, and you wait."

The pain was so strong that I was almost gone; I didn't even have the strength to shout for help.

I could only watch Kairo leave me.

Up to the moment Cordelia quickly took me to a hospital.

She called Kairo ten times straight, yet he did not pick up, insisting on remaining beside Madeline.

That evening, across the hot searches, there were only pictures of Kairo carrying Madeline, worried and uneasy.

Yet Madeline had no injuries at all.

When dawn grew a little light, he rushed over, but sadly, the baby in my own womb still could not be saved.

Because of damage to my spine, I myself nearly became paralyzed.

In tears, Kairo wept hard, dropped to his knees by my own bedside, and promised to change.

He really did it.

Either to go back to the family or to calm the anger of the Gibson and Harrison families, he sent Madeline overseas.

After that, she vanished with no sign.

Now, she showed up before me once more.

Once more, Kairo's phone ringtone dragged my thoughts back.

He shifted his body to cover it, but I still noticed the caller's name.

[Baby Madeline].

There was a heart bouncing on the phone.

Meanwhile, my note in Kairo's phone was just a plain full name.

Before, I had taken his phone and switched it to [Beloved Azalea].

In the next second, he grabbed it back with a displeased look. I asked why he would not even change the note, and he only replied coldly, "Childish."

Yet now, with no one telling him, he updated Madeline's note.

Simply put, he did not love enough.

With a sarcastic pull, I lifted the corners of my lips.

Quickly, Kairo ended the call, but more texts came from that side.

At the phone, he took a look, his face shifted, and he spoke quietly, "Azalea, something came up at work. I need to step out for a bit."

In my grip, the hand holding the divorce agreement clenched, and I spoke in a rough voice. "Have you made up your mind?"

For a second, Kairo froze, still holding his ground. "It's only company stuff, I'll come back soon."

Once he finished speaking, he turned around and walked out with impatience.

At his figure, I watched and slowly spoke. "Kairo, if you go, our marriage will be fully finished."

Sadly, his footsteps were quick, and my voice was too soft.

Not a single word reached his ears.

I squeezed the divorce papers in my palm and walked after Kairo.

He soon reached a small hospital.

With just one call, Madeline rushed outside.

With teary eyes, she wrapped her arms around Kairo and spoke in a broken voice.

"Kairo, I thought you left me again."

Kairo looked at Madeline with pain in his eyes, her face tired and her eyes red, and he held her even tighter.

"I won't leave you again, even now, the person I care about is still you. Five years back, I placed the wedding ring that stands for the Harrison family wife on your finger; from that time, the only woman in my heart is you."

While speaking, Kairo held Madeline's hand tightly.

I knew right away this was the ring from our wedding.

The ring between Kairo and me showed the power of both families.

When our relationship was at its best, he once told me that for the rest of his life, I would be his only wife.

Yet just one day after he saw Madeline again, he quickly swapped the ring on my finger for a different one.

I had kept that ring on my hand for five years, so how could I fail to tell which one was true and which one was fake?

In those five years, because of this issue, I argued with Kairo again and again.

But I still was not able to take that ring back.

Up to this moment, the ring I wear was still not the real one.

Thinking about this, I curved my lips a little, held back the pain in my heart, and made my choice stronger to walk away.

They were kissing each other, fully lost in it.

At that moment, Madeline brought me up.

"If not for Azalea and that child who died, you would not have made me leave, but even if that person who kidnapped me back then did not end that child's life, she might still not have been able to give birth."

"If the baby inside her belly right now also dies, will you..."

Before she could finish speaking, I could not bear it anymore and ran forward.

Madeline noticed me right away, scared, and moved away from Kairo.

Kairo's body froze, and he quickly pulled Madeline behind him to shield her.

My hands tightened into fists, and a cold smile showed on my lips.

"Azalea... you... you hear me out..."

He did not know how to speak, and only kept protecting Madeline without thinking.

Madeline looked at me with watery eyes and said, "Miss Gibson, please don't blame Kairo. We truly love each other. Don't make things hard for Kairo because of me. I will go right away."

After hearing this, Kairo held Madeline's hand even tighter.

Pain hit my heart all at once.

Seeing her act so innocent, I could not stop myself from letting out a sarcastic laugh.

"Love each other?"

"You love each other, so you think it is right to trade my child's life for it?"

Before she could finish speaking, I moved ahead, grabbed Madeline's hair hard, and struck her face strongly!

"This slap is because you ruined someone else's family and still felt proud of it!"

"This slap is because you knew that person was cruel, yet pushed me out to take the knife, making me lose my child!"

"This slap is because even after five years, you still stayed the same, and still dared to speak badly about my child!"

Madeline's face quickly turned red and puffed up; she did not think I would hit her in front of Kairo.

Right away, she cried out loudly in anger.

Kairo felt pain in his heart and caught my wrist.

"Azalea! Are you done causing problems?!"

My chest ached, yet it pushed my anger even more.

I lifted my arm, with no pause, struck Kairo across the cheek, my eyes showing hate, asking through tears.

"What right do you have to say stop? Do you still recall what you said five years ago? You said you would never be unfaithful again. I was truly foolish to trust your lies!"

"Why do you feel no blame toward that baby? It was you and Madeline who ended its life. Why, when Madeline spoke badly about it, did you say nothing? You do not deserve to be its dad!"

After shouting, I struck his cheek again with force.

Kairo stayed quiet in a frightening way, looking at my wet eyes, he said nothing.

Until I lifted my arm, trying to hit Madeline again.

He held me again and yelled in anger.

"Azalea! Stop! What do you want before you leave Madeline alone?"

"She changed from a nurse in a big hospital to now working in a tiny clinic. She has already suffered enough. Why can't you leave her alone?"

My body shook badly.

Who was not letting go of whom?

They were the ones who stayed together, wrecked my life, took my child away!

And now in front of me, asking me to release the culprit!

Seeing the worry and pain in Kairo's eyes, I let go of the last feeling left inside my heart.

I took out the divorce papers and handed them to him.

"Since you truly want me to leave her alone, I recently grew to like an island. As long as you sign this paper, I will let Madeline go."

Kairo's brows tightened.

He did not think I would let Madeline go so easily.

For a brief moment, Kairo felt uneasy; he reached out and wanted to open the paper before him.

At that moment, Madeline suddenly pressed her cheek, pulled Kairo's sleeve, and said with tears, "Kairo, my face hurts so much."

Kairo's face quickly turned tense. He did not even check; he signed the paper right away and threw it to me.

I held the divorce papers in my hand.

Ten years of marriage, and twenty years of love, ended here.

I had known Kairo since we were children; our engagement was also decided since childhood.

I believed we would go on like this in joy until the end of our lives.

But Madeline came.

She quickly took Kairo's heart. Even five years earlier, when she went away, she only left me empty.

"Azalea, you must keep your word."

Kairo's voice was serious, giving all his focus to Madeline.

When he saw me agree, he could not wait to bring Madeline away.

Watching their backs as they left, I sent the signed divorce papers to the lawyer.

[Attorney Jade, Kairo has signed it. I hope you can finish the process soon. Tell me the exact time I will leave.]

Attorney Jade quickly got the file and answered.

[Miss Gibson, it only needs seven days.]

Just seven days were needed; I would get my freedom back.

Thinking about this, I touched my belly and showed a smile from the bottom of my heart.

After going back to the villa, I threw away every memory from before.

All the gifts from anniversaries, the accessories, and the decorations that Kairo had given me, I did not want to bring any of them with me.

The ones worth money, I gave to Attorney Jade, asking him to help sell them.

For the rest of the keepsakes, I placed them all into boxes.

Everything in this place, I did not want anymore.

From the time Kairo signed the divorce papers, anything connected to him only made me feel very sick.

I did not plan to inform the Gibson and Harrison families about the divorce.

Five years back, when Kairo was unfaithful, and I wanted a divorce, they had never stood on my side.

Even now, they would never stand with me.

In their view, only the benefits of the Gibson and Harrison families mattered; my joy and the life of the child could all be given up.

At that moment, Kairo suddenly ran inside.

When he saw the keepsakes scattered across the floor and the accessories and decorations he had given me, he froze for a short moment.

Soon after, his eyes toward me became cold.

"Didn't you agree to let Madeline go? Why did you, right after I stepped out, send people to cause trouble at the clinic?"

I frowned and coldly laughed. "It wasn't me. If it were me, it would never be this simple."

Kairo did not trust me at all.

He stared at me with anger and kicked the ceramic figure on the floor until it broke apart.

"Azalea! When did you turn this cruel? Aren't you worried the child in your belly will lose years of life?"

That had been the gift he gave me for our third anniversary.

My heart hurt for a brief second, but soon after, it changed into anger.

"Kairo! I already said it wasn't me, you can go check it yourself! Who gave you the right to speak badly about the child in my belly?"

I stared at him with anger.

The two people who once cared for each other had now turned into people full of hate.

Kairo looked at my bulging belly with anger and said, "Other than you, who else would go after Madeline! Azalea, I'm telling you, if you go after Madeline again, I won't let you go!"

He angrily broke everything on the floor.

Kairo knew better than anyone how much I once valued these things, even calling them treasures wouldn't be too much.

When he noticed me staring in a daze at the broken pieces across the floor, Kairo gave a cold smile.

"Azalea, you'll regret this!"

No, I would not.

I didn't say it, but I only felt that these items being broken might have saved me effort.

"Leave, Kairo, we're getting a divorce!"

He pushed aside the things on the floor and looked over me with anger.

Then he scoffed. "Azalea, the baby in your belly is already eight months old. How could you divorce me? Stop acting!"

After saying that, he didn't look at me again, turned around, and hurried out, brushing past Attorney Jade, who came in to take the jewelry and decorations.

I stayed where I was, watching him run toward Madeline.

This time, Kairo got it wrong; he had already signed the divorce papers.

In seven more days, I would be free.

Kairo returned again, and Madeline followed behind him.

Behind Kairo, she shyly stayed out of sight. "Azalea, coming in without asking you first, you won't be upset, right? Otherwise, I should leave."

She nervously wrung her sleeves, acting like she was going to go.

Kairo grabbed her and spoke coldly, "If she hadn't sent people to wreck the clinic and cause trouble for you, you wouldn't need to be forced out."

"This is what she has to pay you back!"

I sneered.

"The luggage was already moved here. What are you still acting for? As long as you're not scared of being beaten to death by me in the middle of the night, you can stay here however you want."

Madeline's body froze. She pressed her lips together and looked at Kairo with hurt.

"Kairo, I should just leave."

Kairo's face darkened, and the way he looked at me turned extremely cold.

"Have you caused enough trouble?"

Pain hit my heart, and I pushed back even more.

"Who brought the mistress into the villa? Am I the one causing trouble? If you don't want to look at me, you can just take her and leave!"

Kairo's brow pulled tight, holding back as he spoke, "Azalea, you gave your word to let Madeline leave; you were the one who broke that word first."

"I told you it was not me."

I replied in a cold tone.

"That's enough. I do not want to listen to your arguing anymore. Madeline, I will let her remain. If you cannot accept it, then leave!"

Kairo's eyes turned red as he spoke in anger.

I stared at them coldly and sneered.

"Alright, I will leave."

Kairo had not expected me to agree that quickly; worry crossed his mind.

Madeline tugged at his sleeve, happily said, "Great, Kairo. I can move in."

His focus shifted to Madeline, and he gently touched her head with care.

When he looked back at me again, his tone became softer.

"Okay, you are still pregnant, just think of it as building blessings for the baby. I got you a present, see if you like it."

From his coat pocket, Kairo casually pulled out a present box, inside lay a scarf in an old-fashioned color.

With a gentle smile, Madeline said, "I chose it with Kairo, Azalea. If you like it, then that's good."

"Scarf?" Seeing the diamond necklace from the same brand around Madeline's neck, I coldly laughed.

This scarf was clearly a free item that came with the diamond necklace.

Kairo had given the costly diamond necklace to Madeline, yet handed me the free piece.

I no longer wanted to see the pleased look in Madeline's eyes, so I casually took the scarf and walked upstairs.

The moment I stepped into the room, I tossed the scarf into the garbage bin.

Even without being Mrs. Harrison, I had not dropped so low as to accept free items.

Taking out my phone, I urged Attorney Jade once more.

[No matter the cost, I want to complete the divorce agreement as quickly as possible.]

Once everything was settled, I sat down at the dressing table.

At that moment, Kairo came in.

He reached out, trying to touch my hair, but I moved away right away.

Kairo's eyes grew dim for a second, then he soothed, "Azalea, getting upset is bad for the baby, stop making a scene."

"I assure you, just let Madeline remain here for three days, alright?"

He persuaded, stepping nearer to me.

The scent on his body was very strong, making me feel sick.

I shoved his hand aside, shut my eyes hard for a second.

"Kairo, I already told you, I will leave. You can let her stay for however many days you want."

Kairo's brows pulled together.

He had not thought I would push back this much.

Kairo still wanted to use the old ways to calm me; he turned a little, trying to kiss my lips.

His hand also moved into my collar.

"Azalea, the baby is already eight months old, we can......"

Thinking that before returning, he had kissed and held Madeline.

I only felt that Kairo being close made my whole body reject it.

I said in a calm tone, "Kairo, Madeline is placed by you in the next room, are you not worried she will hear it?"

At once, Kairo stopped what he was doing.

Some guilt passed through his eyes, just when he was about to speak.

Madeline, dressed in a see-through nightdress, showed up at the doorway.

Her tone carried fear, soft and fragile, "Kairo, when I shut my eyes, it's those people from earlier. I'm very afraid. Can you come stay with me for a moment?"

After speaking, she glanced at me with a slight boldness, then softly said, "Azalea, I only need to borrow Kairo for a short time."

I coldly laughed, knowing Madeline was putting on an act again.

Yet Kairo walked out, full of concern.

"Azalea, I will come back soon."

After saying this, he held Madeline and turned to walk out of the room.

I drew in a deep breath, tightened my fists until they went pale, and my chest also felt a heavy ache.

That night, the sounds of moans from the room beside mine woke me.

"Kairo... ah... gentler......"

The woman's soft moaning slowly became louder.

My eyes opened wider bit by bit, unable to accept they were truly this bold.

The man's heavy breaths soon came after.

"Kairo, I know even now you still only love me."

"Don't push me away, I don't need a title, as long as you stay beside me, that is enough."

Loud hitting sounds rang out. Kairo spoke in a hoarse tone, "Madeline, I love you too......"

The noises continued one after another.

My heart felt like it was pierced by a sharp knife, and tears also kept streaming down.

Kairo had betrayed me once again.

Pain spread through my whole body, and my abdomen also began to cramp uncontrollably.

I kept taking deep breaths, biting my lips tightly, forcing myself to stay calm.

I dialed Kairo's phone.

The vibrating sound soon came from the room next door.

Kairo had no plan to answer at all and even directly rejected the call.

My heart felt like it was being sliced by knives, my whole body shaking uncontrollably.

The stomach pain left me with no strength at all.

Using the last bit of strength, I held myself up, crawled to the door, and half-kneelt as I knocked on the door next door.

"Kairo...... my stomach hurts badly......"

The moaning sounds inside the room did not stop.

Madeline acted concerned, "Kairo, I hear something at the door."

Kairo replied with heavy breathing, "Ignore her, she is using the child to act pitiful again."

"What if it is real?"

Kairo coldly laughed. "If it is real, then let her miscarry again. As long as I have you, that is enough."

Wet kissing noises echoed.

I stared at the door before me that would not open in despair, and shouted loudly, "Kairo!"

Yet there was no reply from inside at all.

I fell to the floor in pain, along with the severe pain, a smell of blood came from beneath me.

My face turned pale in fear, and I quickly took out my phone and called emergency services.

Half an hour later, I was finally taken to the hospital.

Until I was gone, that door never opened.

My sight went dark, tears kept running, and my heart was full of panic.

After I woke again, I immediately touched my abdomen.

After realizing the baby still softly reacted to me, I finally let out a breath.

But what rose up was endless anger.

I had not thought Kairo could do this to such a degree.

Even knowing I was pregnant in the room next door, he still stayed with Madeline.

Even after I called out for help, he still paid no attention to my request.

In his mind, my life and the baby's life were not as important as his moment of pleasure with Madeline.

Thinking about this, my eyes turned completely cold.

In the next moment, I called the bodyguard's number.

"Set the villa on fire for me!"

I want to destroy everything completely!

The huge fire destroyed everything.

Watching the video on my phone, I laughed wildly, yet tears slid down from the corners of my eyes.

That villa held too much of my past.

Too many memories of Kairo and me.

It was just a pity, he was not worth it at all.

Soon after, I got a call from Kairo.

I stared at the phone, lighting up with no emotion, just like how Kairo had ignored my call for help last night.

The phone quickly went silent.

I knew Kairo would not stop so easily.

As expected, not long after, he rushed in with red eyes.

He looked at me with a cold and disgusted expression, "The fire at the villa, was it done by you? Do you know Madeline and I almost burned to death?"

I nodded calmly, even with a smile, and said, "I did it, what a pity, it did not burn you to death."

At this moment, the fake bond between us finally broke.

Kairo fixed his eyes on me, his look turning colder and more heartless.

He gripped my chin hard and coldly laughed.

"Azalea, why can't you ever learn to act like you don't know? It's normal for men in this circle to keep a few women."

"I stayed loyal to you for five years. If it weren't for you sending people to wreck Madeline's clinic, I would not have brought her back. Now that things have reached this point, I will never leave her alone."

"Everything you did pushed me step by step closer to her, Azalea. Is this what you wanted?"

I bit my teeth hard, my eyes turning red.

"It was you who went behind my back first, you didn't even care about the child in my belly, Kairo, who really crossed the line?"

Kairo's eyes turned dark right away.

"Azalea, if it were not for that agreement back then, and that short-lived child in your belly, do you think I would have stayed?"

"You got the title of Mrs. Harrison, isn't that enough?"

He looked down at me, asking seriously.

So this was the reason he stayed back then.

Not due to affection for me, nor care for the baby.

But because of that small sense of fake regret, and the letter of agreement!

Tears fell down like rain, my fingers dug into my hand, I could not keep it in anymore, and all at once, I hit Kairo hard across the face.

"Kairo! You animal!"

Kairo's head turned to the side from the hit, he wiped the red at the edge of his lips, coldly laughed, and said calmly, "I do not let go of Madeline again, if you still want the role of Mrs. Harrison, then live with her in peace, these days, I do not come to the clinic to see you again, think it over yourself."

After saying that, he turned around and walked away.

With a bang, the ward door was shut and closed loudly.

I dropped weakly onto the bed, my belly sending waves of pulling pain.

In a blur, I seemed to remember Kairo when he asked me to marry him.

So young, when he kissed me, he was even shaking.

"Azalea, I will love you forever, treat you kindly."

Back then, five years ago, I should have realized that his so-called forever promise had already ended.

And I should have walked away sooner.

But because of old feelings, I wavered.

In the end, I got hurt again.

Thinking about this, with shaking hands, I booked a ticket for three days later.

I would never believe his promises again.

I would not want to see him again, forever!

On the day of the family event, my mother called me again.

I understood that I had to go.

The thing about me setting the villa on fire was already known by my mother; Kairo did not come to pick me up.

After I arrived, before I could stand properly, I saw Kairo holding Madeline, who was dressed in fine clothes, as they slowly walked in.

He really brought Madeline to the family event!

This was clearly the greatest insult to me!

I was so angry that my whole body shook, and after the people around saw it clearly, they began to whisper.

"This woman seems to be the one from five years ago. I have never seen Kairo look at Azalea with such care; it seems he truly likes this woman."

"Kairo actually brought his lover to the family event; it seems he does not plan to leave Azalea any dignity. Maybe he even wants to give his lover a proper place!"

"They look more like a couple, look at Azalea, alone and by herself, really don't know how she still has the courage to come, she cannot even control her husband."

I clenched my hand tightly.

Mom also came toward me with anger.

"Azalea, how did things turn out like this? Kairo even brought that woman to the family gathering, can't you hold your husband's heart? You made our Gibson family lose so much face!"

Her eyes glared at me harshly if we weren't at the family gathering.

She would've struck my face.

My chest hurt badly.

At that time, Kairo led Madeline and walked straight toward me.

Mom gave an uneasy smile twice, then Kairo said a few words, and she left.

Madeline looked at me with a smile. "Azalea, I just want to come join the family gathering. If you don't want to see me, I'll leave right away. After all, I don't want to be burned alive."

While speaking, she showed a scared look.

Kairo pulled her behind him and coldly laughed.

"No need to mind her, I'll bring you if I want, from now on, you're the second Madam of the Harrison family, no one can harm you."

Kairo looked at me and said those words one by one.

My chest hurt in a heavy way, and I wanted Kairo to feel the same hurt as I did.

Mom threw me a warning look.

She didn't let me ruin the Gibson family's name at the family gathering.

Even if it meant giving me up.

I turned around with no expression, about to walk away.

Madeline stepped forward and stepped on the edge of my dress.

She covered her lips in shock, "Azalea, I didn't mean it, I'm really sorry."

Her lips spoke sorry words, but her foot pressed down harder.

With a rip sound, my skirt suddenly dropped down.

The people around gasped right away.

Under my dress, I only had a tube top, the same as being exposed in front of everyone.

I couldn't take it anymore and hit Madeline hard across the face.

Right then, Kairo quickly turned his angry eyes toward me.

"Azalea!"

Before he could say anything more, the dining hall suddenly turned into a mess.

A bunch of thieves burst in through the door.

They carried weapons and forced the people around like moving animals.

Kairo quickly stood in front of Madeline to keep her safe.

It felt like the same moment from before was happening again.

I held my stomach in discomfort as the crowd pushed me around.

I couldn't stop myself from calling out.

"Kairo."

He didn't even look back.

The thieves seemed upset about something and suddenly stabbed someone nearby, and blood spilled at once.

My heart pounded fast, and pain slowly spread through my stomach.

As I moved ahead, getting ready to head upstairs, Madeline stepped in front of me on the stairs.

With a cruel look, she stared at me and smiled.

"Azalea, don't you know this kind of scene?"

My heart jumped right away.

Back then, she had the same smile, pushing me toward the kidnappers.

Could she be planning to do the same trick again?

I bit down hard. If Madeline tried anything, I'd fight back right away.

Madeline wildly laughed. "Don't worry, this time I won't shove you toward those kidnappers; it's just that the thing in your stomach is too sickening."

"Burning the villa really made things easier for me, now, if I push you down the stairs at this moment, nobody will doubt me, nobody will trust you."

"Go die with those two bastards!"

Right after she finished speaking, she suddenly rushed at me.

I held onto her arm tightly and pulled Madeline down the stairs with me.

With a loud hit, strong pain spread across my entire body.

Even though I had tried to shield my stomach earlier, the force was too strong.

Blood still came out from between my legs.

My face became very white.

Madeline stared at me with anger and yelled, "You bitch, you really dare pull me down the stairs, I'll kill you!"

She rushed at me and grabbed my hair hard.

I bore the pain in my body and pushed back with all the strength I had.

At that moment, Madeline suddenly changed to a weak look and pleaded.

"Azalea, please let me go. I won't tell anyone you pushed me down the stairs, let me go."

Right after she said that, Kairo showed up in front with red eyes.

He caught my throat. "Azalea! Burning the house isn't enough; you even shoved Madeline down the stairs. How can you be this cruel?"

I fought hard, trying to get air, speaking with effort.

"Not me... Madeline did it... the child..."

But before I could finish, he tossed me onto the floor, and my stomach was struck again.

"Stop! Child, child, child, you only know how to use the child to threaten me!"

"Do you think hurting Madeline will make me return to you? I don't love you anymore. If not for that child, I wouldn't keep this marriage at all!"

"If I knew you were this cruel, it would've been better if you died with that child back then!"

My face quickly turned white.

Pain rolled through my stomach again and again, and blood poured out once more in heavy amounts.

I fell weakly to the floor and stretched my hand toward Kairo.

"Kairo... help... the child..."

Kairo looked at me with hate.

"Don't try that same act again, even if the child is gone, I won't give in anymore, you and the child in your stomach, go die together!"

Right after he said that, Madeline's face went white and she pulled Kairo's sleeve.

"Kairo, I feel really bad."

In the next moment, he lifted Madeline up and turned around to leave.

Madeline showed a proud smile at me, resting her head against Kairo's neck.

I stayed on the cold floor, full of hopelessness. I laughed in pain, but tears kept running down my face.

Until the bodyguards found me and took me to the hospital.

The nurse asked me in worry, "Mrs. Harrison, why can't we reach Mr. Harrison's phone? The child in your belly is in danger now. We need a signature for the surgery right away."

They used my phone to call Kairo many times.

But he refused every call.

My face turned white, my hands shaking as I held the approval paper.

"My husband is already gone; I can make the choice myself."

Right after that, I signed my name.

Before they moved me into the surgery room, I removed that fake ring and tossed it into the bin.

From that time on, the last bit of feeling I had for Kairo was gone.

......

When I opened my eyes again, I heard the nurses speaking outside the door.

"Kairo is really too much. Azalea is hurt so badly that the child in her belly almost didn't make it, yet he is staying with that woman."

"I heard that woman wasn't hurt at all, but Azalea almost lost her life."

The broken voices of the nurses slowly faded away.

I stared at the ceiling without any feeling.

At that moment, Kairo came in.

He still had Madeline's perfume on him; anyone could tell they had just been together.

I looked at him with no emotion.

Kairo frowned and reached out to touch my hair, but I moved away.

He sighed impatiently.

"Azalea, aren't you alright? I know you're still upset about what happened today."

"Didn't you want to go to the annual meeting? Fine, this year I'll bring you there, as long as you accept Madeline's place and stop going against her, I'll give half of the Harrison shares I hold to the child in your belly."

"Now you can feel calm, right?"

He looked down at me.

Using half of the shares that should go to the child to trade for Madeline's place.

I coldly laughed, then nodded with no feeling.

Then I called the lawyer and told him to bring the share transfer paper.

Soon, the lawyer came to the hospital room door.

I gave the share transfer paper to Kairo and spoke in a rough voice.

"As long as you sign this paper now, I promise I won't go against Madeline anymore, as for what place you want to give her, that's your choice."

Kairo did not expect me to agree so simply.

He frowned, still wanting to speak more.

I pushed the share agreement toward him again.

In the end, he still wrote his name.

Right after that, Kairo's phone started ringing.

His face quickly softened.

I knew it was Madeline calling.

After he ended the call, he looked at me for a moment.

"Wouldn't things be easier if you had acted like this sooner? I'll still go back to the villa later, but how often depends on how you behave."

I pulled my lips slightly and said nothing.

Kairo took this as me giving in.

He showed a pleased smile and turned around to walk out of the room.

I stopped the lawyer who was about to go, gave him the share paper, and spoke in a firm tone.

"Help me reach Kairo's enemy, the Bryant family. Tell him that once this child is born, I'll sell all the shares to him."
