Sudden Appendicitis, His Family Accused Me of Stealing Bracelet
My appendix suddenly flared up, and I was in so much pain I nearly passed out. And of all times, my sister-in-law picked that moment to claim at home that her gold bracelet had gone missing.
Both my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law insisted I must have stolen it.
Catherine, drop the act! You obviously stole Carly's bracelet!
"You'd better hand it over, or there's no way I'll let this go!"
My mother-in-law glared at me as she spoke.
"Catherine, you stole my gold bracelet and then pretended to be sick. Did you think that way you could sneak the bracelet out of the house?"
I turned to look at my husband, hoping he would believe me and then take me to the hospital.
But I never expected the ice in his voice as he said, "Catherine, just admit it. Once you pay my sister back for a gold bracelet, I'll take you to the hospital!"
Hearing my husband say that, I let out a furious laugh.
I pulled out my phone and sent a message in the family group chat.
"Carl Henson's family is falsely accusing me of stealing his sister's gold bracelet. I have appendicitis, and I'm in so much pain I could pass out."
The next moment, several of my cousins in the family group replied at once.
"Five minutes and we'll be there, Cathy. Don't worry."
I had just set my phone down when my sister-in-law fixed her eyes on me. "Catherine, hurry up and hand it over!"
"That gold bracelet is worth a lot!"
She looked at me and said it.
Hearing that, I answered her directly. "Carly, how could I possibly take anything of yours!"
"You know perfectly well that just the gifts I've given you these past few years are worth over a hundred thousand!"
"Why would I steal one bracelet from you!"
I clutched my stomach, face pale, staring at Carly.
Ever since I married Carl, I'd given the Henson family plenty of nice things.
Over the years, the things I'd bought for Carly alone came to well over a hundred thousand.
And that bracelet of hersof course I knew it was worth ten thousand at most.
There was no way I'd steal Carly's bracelet.
"Catherine, quit talking nonsense. The things you bought for meweren't they paid for with my brother's salary?"
"That's our family's money!"
Carly looked at me coldly as she spoke.
At the same time, she said quickly, "You'd better hand over the bracelet!"
"Otherwise, thieves aren't welcome in this family!"
I looked at Carly, my expression by now beyond grim.
The pain from my appendix had long since left me barely able to straighten up.
I quickly said to Carly, "Carly, I really didn't steal anything!"
"If you don't believe me, then search me!"
As I spoke, I pointed at myself.
I hadn't hidden a single thing on me, and by now I was in so much pain I was on the verge of fainting.
Even so, I still hoped Carly would search me, so I could get to the hospital sooner.
But I never expected itthe moment I finished, Carly cut me off.
"Catherine, telling me to search you now just means you've already hidden the bracelet somewhere!"
"You'd better take it out!"
I listened to Carly, my face full of disbelief.
"Carly, what is that supposed to mean?"
"I told you I didn't steal it, and you're going to smear me like this?"
After I said that, I turned to look at Carl.
"Honey, I'm in terrible pain. Please, take me to the hospital now!"
I grabbed Carl's hand and got the words out fast.
But Carl only gave me a cold glance and said, "Catherine, just hand it over, and I'll take you to the hospital!"
As Carl finished speaking, my face filled with disbelief.
I looked at Carl standing before me, my voice already carrying a note of disbelief.
I had never imagined that my own husband would completely distrust me.
And not only thatmy husband actually thought I had stolen it too.
"Honey, you know perfectly well that I'm not short of money at all, so how could I steal Carly's bracelet?"
I looked at Carl, my voice already carrying a note of urgency.
The pain in my belly grew worse and worse, so bad that my voice shook when I spoke.
I knew that if things kept going like this, I would surely die.
I grabbed hold of Carl and pleaded, "Honey, take me to the hospital first!"
"I'm hurting so much I'm about to pass out!"
"Once I'm better, I'll buy Carly a new bracelet, all right?"
I looked at Carl and spoke urgently.
But when I finished, Carly sneered and said, "Catherine, you'll buy me a new one?"
"That money of yoursisn't it all paid for by my brother!"
I looked at Carly and said urgently, "Carly, what are you talking about!"
"You know perfectly well that your brother hasn't handed his salary over to me all these years!"
When I finished, I turned to look at Carl, hoping he would say a few words for me.
But when I turned my head, I saw the faint coldness in Carl's eyes.
Seeing the look on his face, my heart went cold in an instant.
Not only would he not speak up for me, there was even a trace of disgust in the way he looked at me.
Seeing the look on his face, I opened my mouth but couldn't say a word.
"Carl..."
I looked at him and pleaded, "Take me to the hospital first!"
"I promise, once you take me to the hospital, I'll buy Carly a new bracelet!"
But the moment I finished, Carl said flatly, "Catherine, don't worry, appendicitis isn't that serious. It just hurts a little!"
"But I think, with a character like yoursstealing even Carly's braceletyou'd better stop handling the family's money!"
As he spoke, he actually drew a document out of his coat and handed it to me.
I stared blankly at Carl, my eyes full of disbelief.
I never expected that Carl had even prepared a contract.
"Catherine, I'm doing this for our family!"
"It's not safe leaving the money in your hands!"
"You'd better hand it over!"
Looking at me, Carl said this.
Listening to him, I laughed in anger.
I turned my head and looked at the document Carl had handed me.
When I saw that the document stated that all the money I earned from now on would go to Carl, and that even the company shares in my name would be his to allocate,
the contents of that document made one thing immediately clear to me.
From start to finish, this had all been designed by Carl.
He had been scheming this from the very beginning.
I stared blankly at Carl, my face full of disbelief.
"Carl, what do you mean by this?"
My voice had turned icy, and my eyes were fixed hard on him.
But he lowered his head and said, "Catherine, I have no choice!"
"You know how it isI really can't rest easy leaving the money with you!"
I gave a little laugh, looked at Carl, and said in a cold voice, "Carl, what is there for you not to rest easy about?"
"In all these years, have I ever spent a single cent of your money?"
"There's no way I'm signing this document!"
When I finished speaking, all that was left in my eyes as I looked at Carl was a dead stillness.
I understood perfectly that from this moment on, this family was not one I could ever trust.
They were scheming against mespecifically, against the assets and shares in my name.
The instant my words fell, Carl's expression changed.
He stared at me hard and said, "Catherine, do you even know what you're saying?"
"You clearly stole it, and you won't admit it!"
"And you still want to control the money?"
I couldn't be bothered to deal with Carl. I just stared at him and said, "Carl, are you sure you won't take me to the hospital?"
As I said it, my face had already gone pale, and the sharp pain crashing over me made me realize I had to get to the hospital right now.
That kind of pain nearly made me pass out.
Carly rushed over and suddenly grabbed me. "Catherine, stop putting on this act."
"My brother is doing this for your own good!"
"You'd better sign it!"
"Otherwise, there's no way you're leaving here!"
As she said it, she planted herself directly in my path.
My eyes stayed fixed on this family.
At that moment, the three of them stood there blocking me.
Even though they knew I was already in so much pain I was about to pass out.
Yet this family not only refused to take me to the hospital, they were forcing me to sign documents.
In that moment, I finally understoodthis family had been scheming against me from the very start.
They were taking advantage of me while I was gravely ill to force my hand.
I took a deep breath and tried to speak again, but a sharp pain tore through my belly, and I nearly fainted from it.
I collapsed right there on the floor; the pain left me without even the strength to stand.
"Carl... I'm begging you..."
I lifted my head, looked at Carl, and pleaded, "Take me to the hospital, I really am in so much pain I feel like I'm dying!"
But the moment I finished, Carl simply held the document out to me.
"Sign it, and I'll take you to the hospital!"
He said it as if he were completely in the right.
Looking at him, I opened my mouth, but I couldn't get a single word out.
I had never imagined that the person I thought I could rely on for the rest of my life would treat me like this.
"Catherine, hurry up! If you don't sign, there's no way we're taking you to the hospital!"
Beside me, Carly spoke up quickly.
And she kept her eyes fixed on me.
I raised my head and glanced at the time on the screen.
I knew that, going by the time, my cousins would be here any moment now.
And at that, strangely, I stopped panicking.
I took a deep breath, looked at Carl, and with a trace of anger now in my eyes, said, "Carl, are you sure you really want to do this?"
"Do you have any idea this is illegal!"
When I finished, I looked at Carl.
Carl clearly flinched for a moment, then said to me, "Catherine, you'd better sign it!"
"Don't worryeven if you sign, I'll still treat you well from now on!"
I looked at Carl, the pain leaving me unable to say a word.
I didn't even have the strength to pick up a pen and sign.
Trembling, I stretched out my hand toward Carl and said, "Carl... take me to the hospital first, I really am in so much pain I'm dying!"
But the moment I finished, Carl's gaze only grew colder. "Catherine, if you don't sign, there's no way I'm taking you to the hospital!"
"Sign it, now!"
"Carl, I'm in so much pain I can't even hold the pen!"
My whole body was trembling as I said it to Carl.
The words had barely left my mouth when Carl looked at me coldly and said, "Catherine, quit the act!"
"Either you sign right now!"
"Or there's no way I'm taking you to the hospital!"
He said it with brutal finality, and I just stared blankly at him.
The pain washed over me. By now I was on the verge of passing out.
With trembling hands, I took the pen Carl held out to me.
I was ready to sign the document.
But the pain had my hands shaking so badly I couldn't even keep hold of the pen!
Watching me like that, Carl and the others only grew more impatient.
"Catherine, quit the act!"
Looking at me, Carly spoke up right then. "You think I don't know what you're really like?"
"You're putting on this act because you figure that if you don't sign, you're off the hook, right?"
"Let me tell you, if you don't sign, there's no way you're leaving!"
The moment Carly finished, she grabbed my hand and said quickly, "Hurry, sign it!"
Carly's yank almost made me black out.
The agony had me unable to get out a single word.
I lifted my head and looked at Carl, pleading.
I was hoping that Carl, seeing me like this, would save me.
But I never expected that all I would see was Carl's cold, icy eyes.
He just watched me with a cold face.
There wasn't a trace of tenderness in that gazeonly coldness.
Seeing this, I nearly burst into tears.
A few years ago, this was the man who, in order to marry me, had been willing to sign a prenuptial agreement.
Now, he was doing nothing but pressuring me.
Only in that moment did I understand how naive I had been.
From start to finish, Carl had been scheming against me.
"Catherine, hurry up!"
Carly was still pushing me, and I truly didn't have an ounce of strength left.
My mind was already starting to blur.
And right at that moment, the front door of Carl's house was violently slammed open.
Hearing the door being burst open, I lifted my head and saw several of my cousins rushing in.
The moment Carly saw them, she panicked and shouted, "What do you think you're doing!"
Seeing me surrounded by the three of the Henson family, my cousin barely said a word before he strode up and slapped Carly across the face.
After that slap, my cousin looked at me anxiously.
When he saw that I was even losing consciousness, he grew more anxious still.
"Quick, get Cathy to the hospital!"
With that, my cousins scooped me up and got ready to leave.
Even then, Carl's family still tried to stop my cousin.
But Carl had barely lunged forward when my cousin kicked him to the ground.
My cousin lifted me up, glanced at the document on the floor, snatched it up in his hand, and carried me out.
My mind was already hazy.
And yet, as I slipped under, I felt strangely at ease.
Because I knew that with my cousin there, nothing could possibly happen to me.
"Cousin, Carl is scheming against me!"
In my daze, I got the words out.
"Cathy, don't worry!"
"With us here, there's no way he can scheme against you!"
"Cathy, hang on, we've already got the hospital lined up!"
"You're going to be fine!"
Hearing my cousin's words, I let out a breath, and the next instant I passed out.
Seeing me black out, my cousin only grew more frantic, and hurried me downstairs.
As they were heading down, my cousins turned back and fixed their eyes on Carl.
"Carl, if anything happens to Catherine, I'll make your whole family go down with her!"
