His words stunned both me and Director Smith.
Annie was lying right here, yet he still thought it was some play I had devised to get money from him.
I wanted to rush to him and tell him the whole truth.
But I was already dead.
I could no longer make a sound.
I could no longer touch this world.
"What?" Director Smith looked at him in disbelief, his eyes turning bloodshot with anger.
"Annie is dead! If you weren't her father, why the hell would I call you!"
Nathan shot him a look of disgust, his face remaining impassive. "Good that she's dead! That wretched woman Lillian is a bitch. Any child she spawned would only grow up to be scum anyway!"
Director Smith seemed shocked by his words.
"Mr. Nathan, Annie is your own daughter! How can you say that?"
Hearing this, Nathan laughed. "My own daughter? I have no such bastard!"
He looked around as if searching for me.
Not seeing me, he walked to Annie's bedside.
He sneered coldly, "What a good show! Look, even though you're dead, your mother doesn't come to see you. How pathetic......"
His words made my heart ache.
